A Word of Welcome to Sonora, Texas

The Ports to Plains Highway System  makes Sonora a very select location for new or expanding industry. When this highway system is finished, it will run from the Canadian Border through Sonora to Del Rio and Eagle Pass, Texas.  Industrial opportunities will abound with these two additional Ports of Entry into Mexico. America has gone from a multi-million dollar a year exporter into Mexico and Central America to a multi-billion dollar a year exporter.

Sonora has been blessed not only with a superior business location but it has scenic beauty, recreation areas, historic sites and a wide variety of wildlife. The Caverns Of Sonora is one the top underground attractions in the United States.  Be sure and visit the Eaton Hill Wildlife Sanctuary.  The 35 acre sanctuary is located off Mulberry and Water Streets in north central Sonora.

The birding selection and monarch butterfly fly routes are located in the Sonora area and many of the local landowners have exotic game and hunting lodge facilities that can be used by the day, week, or month.  Seasonal hunting is another great asset to the Sutton County residents.  

The Sonora Region is abundant with the Old West History and many of those historic sites have been preserved and welcome visitor's seven days a week. Along many of the area's rivers and canyon's are picture graphs from long before recorded time.  The Sonora local ranching history is available through our Main Street Program, the Chamber of Commerce and Historic Tours.

Even though the Old West History runs deep in the veins of Sonora, there are accomplishments toward the future that are ever present. The medical facilities, education facilities, and law enforcement are excellent. Tax base and utility rates are some of the lowest in the state and special rates are available for new and expanding companies. There are local, state and federal incentive programs that can be obtained for startup and expanding industry.
